Abstract

In order to open telecommunication network capabilities to the third parties, Open ServiceManagement Platform (OSMP) is the most critical system in NGN. Several key technologies ofOSMP, including overload control mechanism based on OSMP, QoS differencing mechanismbased on OSMP, principle and protocol of micropayment based on OSMP, mobile paymentscheme based on OSMP, are studied in this thesis. The principal contributions of the work presented in this thesis are:(1) Based on the analysis for the characteristics of QoS of open services, overload controlmechanism based on OSMP is studied. An overload hybrid control mechanism, which is acombination of Window method and Leaky Bucket method, is presented. In accordancewith the new features of open services, such as having many different types and strongburst, some improvements are made to existing overload control algorithms based onWindow method or Leaky Bucket method. By computer simulation, it is proved that theoverload hybrid control mechanism is valid because both the throughput of critical servicesand the fairness of general services can be guaranteed.(2) Using the ideas of guard channel and token, and based on OSMP, a token mechanism ofrealizing QoS differentiation for open services is presented. The token mechanism ismodeled by one three-dimensional Markov chain. Stationary state balance equations andtheir numerical solving method are given out. From the numerical theoretical results andcomputer simulation results, it is proved that the mechanism is valid and flexible.Especially, the QoS of critical open services can be guaranteed. Compaired with thepriority token mechanism, the token mechanism is easy to be deployed and has goodrobustness.(3) Using the ideas of priority queueing and priority token, and based on OSMP, a prioritytoken mechanism of realizing QoS differentiation for open services is presented. Thepriority token mechanism is modeled by one four-dimensional Markov chain. Stationarystate balance equations and their numerical solving method are given out. From the resultsof both theoretical calculation and computer simulation, it is proved that the mechanism isvalid and flexible. Especially, the QoS of critical services can be guaranteed. Compaired with the token mechanism, the priority token mechanism has better system utilityefficiency when in high load.(4) Using the idea of PayWord, the new concept of Master-Slave Payword Chain (MSPC) isproposed. One MSPC consists of one master payword chain and one slave payword chain, which are bound together. Using MSPC, a new micropayment protocol, called PartFairness Micropayment Protocol (PFMP) based on OSMP is presented. PFMP consists ofthree subprotocols: registration, payment and settlement. Both part fairness andnonunit-wise payment can be provided by PFMP. In addition, PFMP has characteristics ofsecurity, efficiency, flexibility and nonrepudiation. PFMP is suitable for thosemicropayment transactions whose transaction amount is very small and which only requirepart fairness.(5) Using MSPC, a new micropayment protocol, called Complete Fairness MicropaymentProtocol (CFMP) based on OSMP is presented. CFMP consists of 5 subprotocols:registration, payment, arbitration, settlement and cancellation. Full fair payment andnonunit-wise payment can be provided by CFMP. In addition, CFMP has characteristics ofsecurity, efficiency, flexibility and nonrepudiation. CFMP is suitbale for thosemicropayment transactions whose transaction amount is not very small and which mustrequire complete fairness.(6) Analyzing about contents, characteristics, requirements and classes of mobile payment ismade. Based on OSMP, a mobile payment system architecture is presented. Three mobilepayment schems, ie.small payment, big paymet and transfer payment, are designed in orderto satisfy different requirements of open services. Using our mobile payment schemes, onemobile ticket scheme is proposed.
