Abstract


In the view of the practical engineering, corrugated steel pipe culvert in the fillsubgrade was affected by the fill load, the article considered the corrugated steel pipeculverts used in practical engineering as the test object. Based on the laboratorysimulation experiments, the force and deformation characteristic, constructiontechnology and quality control standards of corrugated steel pipe culverts withdifferent diameters under different loads (static loads) were studied in the article. Themain results were shown as the following:1. Based on the large indoor simulation experiment platform which was similarto the practical embankment bury conditions of culvert, the stress-strain change law,the law of the soil pressure around the culvert and the vertical and horizontal relativedeformation variation were studied when the fill load, the pipe diameter and the fillheight of corrugated steel pipe culvert were changed.2. Although the pipe diameters were different, but the maximum stress of thesteel pipe culverts appeared at the top or at the horizontal position of the culvert. Theearth pressure and vertical relative deformation of the top of the culvert were themaximum. It can be inferred that the up half structure of the culvert was firstlydestroyed when the fill load of the different diameter culvert were increased.3. As for the corrugated steel pipe culverts under the fill load, with diametersbigger than75cm and those with diameters smaller than75cm, the geometricparameters (wall thickness, wave length and wave height of the corrugated steel pipeculverts) should be different even they have the same design parameters. Thegeometric parameters dynamic design was suggested for the high fill subgrade.4. Based on the test results, combined with the practical engineering, thesuggestions about the design technology of the corrugated steel pipe culvert and theproper construction technology and quality control technology were put forward.The research results provided the scientific basis for the design and theconstruction technology of corrugated steel pipe culvert, and have importanttheoretical significance and guiding role for making the related technology standardsand engineering application.
