Abstract

Urbanization is an important way in promoting China’s economic development and social progress. Speed up the process of urbanization is the urgent requirement of China’s urbanization. China’s urbanization level is not only lagged behind the developed countries, but also lagged behind the developing countries; it will not only lagged behind now, but will be possible to lagging behind the world’s urbanization level for a long time in future. Speed up the process of urbanization is the final way to solve China’s agriculture, farmer and rural problems, it will promote the economical and society’s coordinate development. The improvement of urbanization has great practical significance, first, it helps to promote the realization of China’s modernization, promote the improvement of overall quality, improve China’s comprehensive national strength; at the same time, it will effectively contribute to agricultural modernization, a large number of the rural population moved to cities and towns, create an good conditions for large-scale management of agriculture, promote agricultural restructuring, made agricultural commodity into a high-rate, highly efficient modern agriculture and promote the industrialization and modernization of agricultural production techniques. Urbanization is also the fundamental way to improving the quality of economic operation, environmental protection and sustainable development. Urbanization level has gradually become one of the important indicators to measure the level of socio-economic development of a region.According to the experience of developed countries, urbanization process is an approximate S curve, the development of urbanization in China is in the mid-acceleration phase. But throughout the course of urbanization, there appears the city’s lag of quality. In the current study, it didn’t attract enough attention. This will greatly affect the city’s sustainable development. Therefore, pay full attention to the quality of urbanization becomes the urgent requirement.Chinese has a broad territory and a big amount of population, different regions has different urbanization development situation. We can make appropriate policy recommendations for the further development of urbanization only when there was a better understanding of the condition of China’s urbanization development. In this paper, we based on the achievements in the field, conducting a comprehensive analysis of urbanization, focusing on China’s urbanization process and development of current situation. The first part of the article discusses research about urbanization, summed up the world’s urbanization process, analysis the United States as an example of typical developed countries. Conclude U.S. city’s experience in developing and promotion of the urbanization development stages; In the second part, we collect data about the level of urbanization in 17 years, observe trends in the development of urbanization in China, compared the level of the three major industry development, economic development and urbanization, from their relationships we know that the development of economic and the third industry can greatly promote the development of urbanization; The third part of the article systematically summed up the content of urbanization quality with integration of economic, social, environmental and other aspects, established China’s urbanization development evaluation system; The fourth part of the article use principal component analysis combined with China’s urbanization development evaluation system on research of China’s urbanization quality in the past three years. Last part discusses the Challenges and Opportunities in developing China’s urbanization under the global financial crisis. What is the end of the article is that urbanization should be improved the industry structure. The key factor of the structure is development of the third industry. What is more, optimizing the rules and innovation should be according to the situation of each city. Urbanization in China must not be a model, but should take the road of pluralism. "Multi-level, non-equilibrium step by step, and coordinated development" is a suitable path in China. "Multi-level" means every city will be required at all levels access to development, non-emphasis of one aspect. "Non-equilibrium" refers to the different economic zones will be selected to focus on, rather than the mode of development go hand in hand. "Step by step," contains two meanings:First, the size of the city at all levels should be based on its future development potential, so that it gradually and orderly to a higher level of development; another layer of meaning refers to China’s urbanization must be to follow the general rules of an urbanizing that cannot be overstepped the present situation. "Coordinated development" refers to the process of urbanization, not only to achieve the urbanization of population, but also for modernization of the industrial structure, and promote the coordinated development of economy. These studies have a positive significance in exploration and ensure a healthy and sustainable development of China’s urbanization. There are practice research based on theoretical analysis and a large amount of data combined with charts and demonstrations. With using the latest data and information to reflect the latest developments of China’s urbanization, it makes up for deficiencies in the domestic academic research and came to some new conclusions. Besides, it provides important advice to government’s further work in promoting China’s urbanization.
