Abstract


In this paper, the orientation behavior of liquid crystal molecules in liquid crystal cellsystem under different electric fields is studied using molecular dynamics simulation. The liquidcrystal molecular orientation behavior is first observed and analyzed from the microscopic angle,and then a statistical analysis is performed on the macroscopic physical properties of the liquidcrystal cell system. In this paper, we use5CB liquid crystal molecules filled in the space betweentwo carbon substrates as the model, apply voltage in the range of0~30V on the liquid crystalcell, and simulate the orientation behavior of the liquid crystal molecules under the voltage.Applying statistical method we obtain the distribution of the liquid crystal director undervoltages and the changing rules of the director of the middle layer liquid crystal molecules withrespect to the changing voltage. These results are consistent with macroscopic simulation resultsand the experimental results. Finally, we remove the electric field and simulate the relaxation ofthe liquid crystal molecules orientation, and find that the liquid crystal molecules have atendency of returning to the initial nematic state.
