Abstract


Compared with traditional cable, the high temperature superconducting (HTS) cablehas large transmission capacity, low loss, small size, pollution-free and other significantadvantages. With the rapid development of HTS materials and low temperaturerefrigeration technology, HTS cable has being gradually shifted from industrialcommissioning to commercial applications, and is becoming the most potential newtransmission technology in the21st century. HTS cable online monitoring andmanagement system is the key to ensure the safe operation of HTS cable. This papercombined the technical characteristics and application requirements of digital substationsecondary system, focused on the HTS cable online monitoring and management systemwhich is applying for digital substation to carry on the research.Both of the construction patterns and implementation technology of digital substationmonitoring system have significantly changed compared with traditional substation.Based on the structure and operational characteristics of the superconducting cable, thepaper analyzed the functional requirements of the online monitoring and managementsystem in detail, as well as the information flow of process layer, spacer layer and stationcontrol layer combining with the technical requirements of the digital substation, and thencompleted the overall architecture design of the online monitoring and management systemon that basis.The development of the digital substation secondary system needs to comply with theIEC61850standard. Due to the complex structure of HTS cable and refrigerationauxiliary systems, it has large amount of online testing in running state and involves manynon-electrical parameters, such as temperature, pressure, flow. On the basis of theanalysis of IEC61850standard, the paper put forward the unified modeling method of HTScable monitoring and management system based on the SCL superconducting cable, andtook HTS cable monitoring and control devices as example to provide the modeling processand information mode of each layer in strict accordance with IEC61850standard.Because of the huge development workload of bottom software program accordingwith digital substation, in order to improve the efficiency and quality of R&D, the superconducting cable online monitoring and management system used the secondarydevelopment model based on the existing mature platform. Based on the existing maturedigital substation monitoring platform, the station control layer monitoring systemconducted the secondary development according to superconducting cable applicationrequirements. On the basis of analyzing the software requirements of the monitoringsystem, the paper completed the software design of the monitoring interface and functionmodules. For the development of measurement and control unit, the design anddevelopment of allocation program was conducted according to the characteristics ofexisting hardware platform and the functional requirements of superconducting cable onlinedetection. The paper described the program flow and basic algorithm of measurement andcontrol device.After the completion of HTS cable online monitoring and management system, thecomprehensive single device and system tests were conducted, and the main contents andresults of the tests were presented in this paper. The test results demonstrated that thefunctions of system are well, the hardware is reliable and all the indexes meet the designrequirements.In the end, the paper summarized this research and proposed the future research.
