Abstract

Objective: to evaluate the effects of disease duration and other relevant factors onislet-beta cell function in type2diabetes.Methods:Type2diabetic patients were divided to groups according to the diseaseduration, and compared with the time when they were newly diagnosed. There are threeindex(HOMA-β、AUCINR、IP/I0) to evaluate the islet-beta cell function. Results: The islet-beta cell function decreased gradually as the disease durationextended. HOMA-β was significantly lower than the time newly onset when diseaseduration exceeded10years, which decreased nearly48.79%. AUCINRdecreased nearly39.45%, and IP/I0dropped from4.44to2.71. In the course of duration of interval0.5-1.0-year group and1.1-3.0-year group which treated with insulin, the HOMA-β has anincrease of42.37%,comparing to the other therapy which just a lower increase of only8.73%, as the course progresses, HOMA-β and AUCINRin the use of insulin therapy alsohave a slower decline comparing with those of non-insulin-treated. Through Pearsoncorrelation analysis, BMI was positively related to I0(fasting insulin) and AUCINR,TG andHOMA-β was positively correlated too. Conclusion: Islet-beta cell function decreases with type2diabetes duration. BMI andTG have a certain influence on islet function, effective hypoglycemic therapy in bloodsugar control may be appropriate to increase the release of insulin, but can not improve isletfunction for the duration of the extension and reduction.
