Abstract


In view of the present situation and problems in the use of higher vocationalEnglish textbook, this article compares Practical English with College ExperiencingEnglish and analyzes them in details, which are generally used in the higher vocationalcolleges, discussing and providing some suggestions and reference on composingEnglish textbook with the characteristics of the higher vocational colleges.This thesis consists of four parts. The first part expounds research purpose andsignificance, research objects and research methods, and then reviews theevaluation on English textbook at home and abroad. The second part, the focus of thisarticle, respectively compares and analyzes the similarities and differences in threeaspects of concept, structure and content of the two sets of textbooks. The third partrespectively summarizes the characteristics of two sets of textbooks on the basis ofabove, which of Practical English is emphasizing the construction in languagefundamentals and highlighting the spirit of pragmatism but slightly lacking in interestand classroom interactive activities, while which of College Experiencing English isattaching great importance to the language communication ability and laying stress oncharacteristics of experiential learning but lacking standardization and enough attentionto the function of language. The fourth part puts forward related suggestions on Englishtextbook compilation with characteristic of higher vocational college in the future inorder to provide some reference and help to the construction of English textbook ofhigher vocational college.
