Abstract


Mongolian folk culture is precious and important intangible cultural heritage in our country as well as a part of Chinese traditional culture. Lying at the eastern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Chifeng area is where the Xinglongwa Culture was eight thousand years ago, and several northern nomadic nationalities had lived here, such as Donghu, Hun, Wu Huan, Xian Bei, Khitay, Mongolian, and so on. The Mongolian began to live here in the13th century and they have been living here up to now. And the unique folk culture of the Mongolian has been passed on from generation to generation in this area. In order to enable people to understand the Mongolian folk culture more comprehensively, grasp the connotation and the characteristics of the Mongolian folk culture in Chifeng area more accurately, and provide knowledge about folk culture to tourists, the author adopts the view of historical materialism in this book, and does a historical research on the folk culture of the local Mongolian based on the paradigm theory by Thomas Kuhn, the famous American philosopher and historian of science. It restores the Mongolian folk culture in periods from Yuan dynasty to Qing dynasty in the book so that people can have a better understanding of the Mongolian folk culture. The following aspects are covered in the book:the origin of Chifeng Mongolian, the Mongolian clothing custom, the Mongolian diet custom, the Mongolian custom of labor and production, the Mongolian traffic custom, Mongolian yurt, the Mongolian marriage custom, the Mongolian funeral custom, the Mongolian daily etiquette, the Mongolian custom during the Spring Festival, the Mongolian nadam fair, the Mongolian religious custom, the Mongolian divination custom, the Mongolian religions, the Mongolian music and dance, the Mongolian calendar custom, the Mongolian surnames, the Mongolian characters, the Mongolian verse literature, the comparison between Mongolian folk custom and that of Han nationality, and so on.
