Abstract


Objective:High school is the major strength to construct the learning and innovative society. The innovation ability of staff is the main symbol of high level university. Information seeking behavior helps to grasp the development and dynamic of research, avoid duplication of work and enhance the level of research. Improving the scientific researchers’ information seeking behavior can promote the innovation behavior indirectly. This study is to discuss the interaction mechanism of scientific researchers’ information seeking behavior and innovation behavior under teachers and students team mode. The objective is to compare the difference of scientific researchers’ information seeking behavior and innovation behavior in different disciplines, different team scale, different team mode and different gender of the teachers and students team, and finally to offer proposals of improving information seeking behavior and innovation behavior.Methods:Using literature analysis, expert interview, questionnaire survey and comparative analysis to conduct a survey of52teachers and students teams of institute of transportation engineering, school of mathematics and statistics, institute of foreign language, institute of public administration, school of business and basic medical college in Central South University to empirically study the correlation of scientific researchers’ information seeking behavior and innovation behavior, information need and information seeking behavior, information need and innovation behavior, and the influencing factors of information seeking behavior and innovation behavior under teachers and students team mode.Results:The information seeking behavior of the six disciplines teachers and students teams in Central South University did not reach a higher level. From the average score of information seeking behavior, medical team has the highest score(M=3.68), and science team is the worst(M=3.40); medical team’s information acquisition ability was stronger than that of science, literature and law, and management and engineering team’s information acquisition ability were stronger than that of science, engineering team’s information acquisition ability was stronger than that of literature; medical and engineering teams’ information utilization ability were stronger than that of science; there was difference between different gender scientific researchers in information awareness at alpha=0.05level of test, and male were better than female; making multiple stepwise regression on information seeking behavior and its6dimensions, accordingly, the information acquisition ability had the most effect on information seeking behavior, followed by the information utilization ability, and the minimum impact was information organization and management;The level of innovation behavior of the six disciplines teachers and students teams in Central South University is low. From the average score of innovation behavior, medical team has the highest score(M=3.49), followed by engineering team(M=3.28), and literature team is the worst(M=3.07); medical’s innovation behavior was significantly stronger than that of management, science, literature and law; medical’s innovation consciousness was stronger than management, science and literature, engineering’innovation consciousness was stronger than management and literature; small-scale team was better than large-scale team in innovation awareness; there was difference between different gender scientific researchers in innovation behavior and its dimensions at alpha=0.05level of test, and male were better than female; innovation achievements were significantly related to innovation behavior, innovation consciousness, innovation ability and innovation spirit at the0.01level (bilateral);Making multiple stepwise regression on innovation behavior and its3dimensions, accordingly, the innovation ability had the most effect on innovation behavior, and innovation consciousness had the minimum effect; General information needs, objective information needs and motive information needs were significantly related to information seeking behavior and its dimensions at the0.01level (bilateral); general information needs, objective information needs and motive information needs were significantly related to innovation behavior, innovation consciousness, innovation ability and scientific spirit at the0.01level (bilateral);There was no difference between scientific researchers’ information need under teachers and students team mode; there was a significant correlation between information seeking behavior as well as its dimensions and innovation behavior as well as its dimensions of scientific researchers’ under teachers and students team mode;Information seeking frequency, level of computer, information retrieval and subject knowledge, independent information seeking space, emotion, the "moderate meet" ideas, encounter problems, exchange experience and skill of information retrieval, the support of others and the incentive policy were significantly related to information seeking behavior at he0.01level (bilateral), attend information seeking related courses or lectures was related to information seeking behavior at he0.05level (bilateral); from the analysis of multiple stepwise regression, the level of subject knowledge had the most effect on information searching behavior;Whether members can finish the task in time, the team vision cognition, the consistency of individual vision and team vision, the team’s reflection ability and national incentive policies were significantly related to innovation behavior of scientific researchers’ under teachers and students team mode at the0.01level (bilateral); the leadership of the teacher and unit’s encouragement were significantly related to innovation behavior of scientific researchers’ under teachers and students team mode at the0.05level (bilateral); from the analysis of multiple stepwise regression, the team vision cognition had the most effect on innovation behavior. there was a significant correlation between information need and information seeking behavior as well as its dimensions, and information need and innovation behavior as well as its dimensions of scientific researchers’ under teachers and students team mode; there was a significant correlation between information seeking behavior as well as its dimensions and innovation behavior as well as its dimensions;scientific researchers’ information needs can stimulate the information seeking behavior and innovation behavior under teachers and students team mode, information seeking behavior and innovation behavior can feedback the information need in turn; scientific researchers’ information seeking behavior and innovation behavior interact and influence each other, forming the benign interaction.8charts,49tables,119references.
