Abstract


Beam steering system is an important part of phased array radar. The main function of beam steering system is control the phased array antenna pointing variation. Firstly, introduce the principles of beam steering system、composition and basic function. Secondly, describe several common methods of beam steering system, including method of seeking table、distributed algorithms、centralized mainframe computing method、hybrid computing method. Thirdly, compare of advantages and disadvantages of several methods, determine to use method of seeking table accomplish the design. Combined with actual needs of project, proposed the overall program of beam steering system, and analyzed the key technologies. Paper focuses on the design of sub-arrays arithmetic processing module, including hardware circuit design and SOPC design based on Nios Ⅱ embedded processor. Hardware circuit design included the core FPGA chip circuit design and the peripheral circuit design etc. SOPC design based on Nios Ⅱ embedded processor included hardware design and software design. Finally, use the test platform of beam steering system test the system, and the result indicates that the system design is correct.Design of phased array radar beam steering system based on FPGA makes the beam steering system modular, intelligent, this system has certain common applicability and popular value.
