Abstract


New technology commercialization is the process of transforming science and technology knowledge into productivity. It is an important linkage between science and technology and the development of economy and society. Now Governments, academe and business pay more attention to how to increase the rate of successful new technology commercialization.This research mainly discusses significant effect of various new technology commercialization factors on the new technology commercialization success. This paper is to identify those key factors that are more important to technology commercialization.This research helps to build up our comprehensive understanding in the following aspects: the role of new technology commercialization factors on the new technology commercialization success; which key factors are the most important to technology commercialization of new ventures in China; and from a practical point of view, the results of the study provide valuable insights to create more effective commercialization programs in business.This study focuses on a set of factors in the following aspects: ①technological characteristic; ②technology inventor; ③Intellectual property right; ④market; ⑤business model; ⑥manufacturing; ⑦manage team; and ⑧financing.Data were collected from surveys of more than 110 managers of being or having been incubated enterprises in eight incubators of Beijing venture. The statistic results show that:The significance of every selected factor differs at different commercialization stages. Technological advantage is particularly significant at the stage of laboratory. At the stage of trial production, the maturity of craftsmanship and test marketing affect remarkably the result of commercialization. Substitute technology, maturity of craftsmanship, test <WP=4>marketing and strategy alliance are significant at the stage of Small-Lot Production. At the stage of Mass Production, technology knowing and identification on product competitive advantage are significant. Additionally, the lack of marketing ability is the most urgent factor to hinder new product launch. And managers’ quality is the primary factor in management.
