Energy is important material basis of sustainable development of economic society and important strategic materials which matter the national economic lifeline and national security. China is a major energy producer and consumer mainly relying on coal. The contradiction between economic development and environmental protection is prominent. The unreasonableness of energy structure increasingly affects the development of national economy and even people’s life. How to reduce energy consumption and at the same time to ensure China’s economic growth is an important and realistic problem. The adjustment and optimization of energy structure is China’s energy strategic core for quite a long time in the current and future.As a strategic new industry, new energy industry is one of the important industries during "the twelfth five-year plan". In the long run, vigorous development of new energy can gradually improve the energy structure giving priority to coal, especially electricity supply structure. It can also promote reasonable and effectively use of the conventional energy, alleviate the environmental pollution problems related energy, improve the coordination of energy, economy and environment and realize the sustainable development goal. This paper present use the energy consumption structure status of China and the world as a starting point, with the qualitative and quantitative research methods, through the collection of energy consumption, energy investment and pollution control, establish a multi-objective decision-making model of energy structure optimization, through comprehensive and systematic analysis of the model, using genetic algorithm to solve the model, we clarify the future development direction of China energy structure, put emphasis on the analysis of the development and utilization of new energy, and put forward to some suggestions in order to provides some basis for the formulation of "the twelfth five-year plan".
