Abstract


In recent years, accompanied by rapid GDP growth, China’s energy and resource consumption increased rapidly and the extent of damage to the environment was getting more serious. It went against the concept of sustainable and scientific development. The economic development and the ecological environment are not harmonious,so green finance was proposed. It stressed that the environment, the ecology target may integrate the financial sustainable development system. As a financing hub, commercial banks play an increasingly important role in the context of sustainable development. On the one hand, commercial banks face a variety of environmental risks. They not only threaten the safety of bank credit assets, banking reputation has also been a great loss. They hinder the sustainable development of commercial banks. On the other hand, commercial banks can guide capital to the industries and enterprises which can promote sustainable development and can find opportunities to achieve their own sustainable development.In this thesis, it used the research methods of comparative analysis, qualitative analysis,empirical analysis and game analysis and so on. This thesis went into a new field of the sustainable development of China’s commercial banks and analyzed that how commercial banks could achieve sustainable development by green finance. First of all, we found that the existence of environmental risks was seriously hampering the sustainable development of commercial banks and green financial investment brought business opportunities for commercial banks. So green finance had great significance to the sustainable development of commercial banks. Secondly, from the perspective of Green Finance, it analyzed the status quo of the sustainable development of commercial banks and found that commercial banks had a huge non-performing assets, insufficient prevention and control of environmental risks, weak innovation of green financial instruments and so on. Finally, under the guidance of sustainable development theory, commercial banks’sustainable development theory, green financial concepts and game theory, it built a model which used green credit, green culture and green financial innovation as a framework to provide countermeasures and proposals for the sustainable development of China’s commercial banks and to accomplish harmonious development of the commercial banks, the nature and the society.
