Abstract


With the deepening of reform and opening, the volume of our foreign trade has been expanding tremendously. Particularly as the international market has become a buyers’ market, international factoring has been introduced to China as a new way of open account settlement and trade finance. This thesis firstly reviews the theories and practices of both domestic and foreign factoring. In terms of the theories, it covers the application of financial innovation, financial risk management and account receivable management in international factoring; in terms of practical research, it introduces the mode and pricing mechanism of factoring.Based on this, the thesis delves into the concept, function, main mode and advantages of international factoring and concludes that our country needs to actively develop the factoring business so as to drive the growth of our foreign trade and improve the overall competitiveness of our enterprises.Analyzes the reason of its slow growth in our country. There are many explanations for the slow growth of factoring in our country, the leading one is the stringent approval on factoring agencies, and lack of understanding of the risks involved in the factoring business by the factoring agencies.Amongst all kinds of risks in factoring, the thesis analyzes in details the market risks, legal risks, credit risks as well as operational risks faced by factoring agencies and exporters.The thesis concludes that on condition that all risks be fully recognized and effectively controlled, the risks in factoring can be identified and prevented. It also suggests diversifying the participants, regulating factoring agencies, clarifying the target market, specifying the preventive measures, relaxing the pricing mechanism as well as a new way of promoting the rapid and healthy development of international factoring in our country.
