Abstract

With the development of economic globalization and increasingly fierce market competition, the hotel operation is more and more dependent on the effective internal communication system. Surveys show that 70% of the hotel internal problems are caused by poor communications, and hotel managers spend 70% of their time in communicating with other people.Oboviously, we can see it that the management communication is of great importance to hotel management. Good internal communication can improve the effiency of decision-making, increase staff satisfaction and organization commitment. What’s more, it can promote the formation of good cultural atmosphere and strengthen hotel’s competitiveness in the market.At present, the scholars who pay attention to the hotel management communication are relatively few, the research on hotel management can not effectively guide hotel’s practice. Through analyzing the present situation of hotel management communication to find the existing problems and the cause of problems, the thesis is expected to provide reliable basis and referrence for hotel managers.Based on study of relevant domestic and foreign literature and two rounds of expert-consulting questionnaires,the paper brings forward five influence factors and select management communication effectiveness as indicators measuring communications efficiency,on the basis of it, the paper establishes a preliminary conceptual model.Then,designs the hotel management communication questionnaire in accordance with the conceptual model, and carries it on in three to five star hotels in Changsha;finally makes mathematical statistic analysis of the collected data.The analyzing results indicate that the main influence facors are organization structure factors,organization support factors, superintendent factors,staff factors, interpersonal factors and communication medium factors;there is difference in the way and the extent of how these factors influence communication effectiveness; different demographic characteristics have difference in communication effectiveness and communication influence factors;hotels of different characteristics also exists difference in both of them.Based on the the studying findings, the paper painstakingly puts forward some suggestions for improving hotel management communication,that is,sets up strategic goal of communication, perfect the various communication policies and institutions;constucts open and democratic cultural atmosphere;increases the mutual understanding and trust of staff; enhances the communication awareness of staff and improves their communication knowledge and skill;integrates communication channels and comprehensively uses various means of communication.The paper develops hotel management communication scale which is suitable for our country’s condition on the basis of foreign studying results and conducts practical survey of the situation of hotel communication on the basis of a great lack of relevant research.lt enriches the content and method of hotel communication study.At the same time, it can make superintendents to recognizance the importance of management communication, the present situation and its influence factors.And it can provide scientific basis for hotel managers to improve internal communiations.
