Abstract


Objective: To study the otoneurological function in migraineurs and find its relationship with migraineMethods: Sixty-two cases were intermittently selected from the patients in hospital and divided into two groups. Each group had thirty-one cases. The test group were patient with migraine, including eight males and twenty-three females ranging 19-65 (39.9 ± 11.1 )years old. All the patients in this group were diagnosed according according to the international classification of headache disorders (ICHD, 2004 the second edition), and the cases caused by chronic cardiovascular diseases,diabetes,diseases in middle ear, head trauma, tullio phenomenon, hyperventilation, excessive myopia, stroke and other disease in central nerve system were eliminated. The control group had thirteen males and eighteen females, ranging 23-67(43.0±12.3) years old. All of them were diagnosed by "the criteria of clinic classification and staging of chronic sinusitis and nasal polyp ,which were estabolished by China otolaryngology academy in "Haikou conference" in 1997. The cases which had other diseases in head were eliminated. The age of two groups fit Gaussian’s distribution and show no distinctive difference. The history of all cases were inquired. Pure tone audiogram , acoustic immittance audiometry ,vestibular function test were done. The quantitate data were analysis by independent or paired T test.Results:1. There existed obvious declined auditory threshold in two patients (three ears) .all of them appears to be nerve deafness. No abnormality were found in acoustic immittance audiometry.2. Ten cases had vertigo, seven patients among this cases had obvious vertigo before(or after) migraine attacked. Other three case’s vertigo have no correlative with migraine attacks.Two cases had positioning vertigo. Among these case ,the duration of vertigo varied from half an hour to several days. There were no vertigo in control group.
