Abstract


ObjectivesTo assess systematically curative effect and safety of tadalafil for erectile dysfunction. Materials and MethodsSystematically search for either published or unpublished randomized controlled trials(RCT) on tadalafil for erectile dysfunction all over the world using reasonable search strategies, and evaluate the methodological quality of the eligible studies. Calculate the pooled efficacy, quality of life and adverse effects of tadalafil using method of Meta- analysis.ResultsEleven randomized trials were included, with all being of high quality. The funnel plot is asymmetry which indicates the exiting of potential publication bias. The results indicated that tadalafil compared with placebo can enhance the IIEF EF Domain Score 7.52, increase the RD of successful penetration and sexual intercourse 25% and 33% separately, enhance the RR of improved erections 209%, enhance the IIEF Intercourse Satisfaction Domain and Overall Satisfaction Domain Score 3.20 and 3.08 separately. Most adverse events were considered mild or moderate, with the most common being headache, dyspepsia and back pain.ConclusionsAlthough the potential publication bias unavoidable and the imcompatible quality of the RCT included, now the meta-analysis indicated that curative effect and well tolerated of tadalafil for erectile dysfunction.
