Abstract


Objective: The skeleton of human being is a kind of tissue with active metabolism. The change of the bony metabolism will induce the alternation of the bone mineral contents. The bone mineral density (BMD) means the bony mineral quantity per unit area, which is an important index reflecting the metabolic status of the skeleton of human being. In clinic, it is the principle index for osteoporosis diagnosis to determinate the bone mineral density. The investigate and analysis of the factors that abnormally decrease the bone mineral density will conduce to the prevention, therapy and rehabilitation of osteoporosis and guide a healthy life style. It can provide the scientific basis for prevention and therapy of the osteoporosis to study the bone mineral density and the internal correlation between the parameters of body, life style and osteoporosis. The purpose of our research is to offer correlated reference data to build the database of the values of bone mineral density of normal people in China, and to provide the scientific basis for the diagnosis and prophylaxis of osteoporosis through the investigation of the status of BMD of Dalian youth.Methods: Questionnaire and bone mineral density of 2~4 lumbar vertebrae, femoral neck, Ward’s triangle and greater trochanter in 227 (males 116, females 111) healthy Han nationality youth in Dalian city was measured with dual energy X-ray absorptiometer.
