Abstract


As early as in the end of 1990s, the business intelligence (BI for short) technology was evaluated by an authoritative computer magazine one of the most influenced IT technologies for the several future years.A BI system involves several computer technologies such as data pretreatment, data storage, data analysis and data display. It covers several discipline domains such as statistics, economics, artificial intelligence, computer application, management science and so on. Because of its complexity and developers being lack of experience, BI being used in different industries as application solutions is still at the initial stage. After development froth, global telecommunication industry has returned to rationality, returned to service and business competition. Customer’s consumptive behavior becomes more and more mature and customer’s requests such as individual business, high quality product, diverse service and inexpensive price become more and more common. Chinese telecommunication market now has progressed into an unprecedented competition time. In order to develop and expand quickly, telecommunication enterprise must first know which products can bring more business to enterprise and which customers are the most valuable customers in the market competition. So all service providers join in the queue of constructing BI system one after another to promote the enterprises’core competitive ability.In view of the present situation of information system construction, how on earth to apply BI technologies together to telecommunication industry, is the important question actively discussed by each software developer, and also the main content of this article.After studying the development situation of domestic and foreign telecommunication industry as well as the application situation of BI, using the relative theory and method, the author has carried on a thorough analysis and research on the situation of Sichuan telecom’s information system construction. Considering the characteristics of Sichuan telecom, such as wide system variety, dispersed data, inconsistent information and so on, the author proposes the DB-ODS architecture for Sichuan telecom’s BI system. The author also points out that constructing the operation data store (ODS for short) for the enterprise is the core of the first stage of construction. The system can refine and integrate the sharing data by using ODS. Based on the shared information model proposed by TMF, this article proposes an own ODS model which suits the present construction stage better, and expatiates on the design, confirmation and realization. In addition, this article illustrates some data analysis application based on ODS.The ODS construction indicates the direction of Sichuan telecom’s BI
