Abstract


With the development of the higher education and extensive international communication, alumni resource is becoming more and more important for the university. Universities and alumni association are also paying attention to the operational of alumni association day by day. We must know how to manage alumni resource effectively, not utilize it unlimitedly, just like "digging ores ". As for the job of alumni association, high-efficient alumni association and proper operational mode are necessary.In order to fit in with the increase of alumni activities in current life, this paper attempts to dump traditional view, from the angle of non-governmental organization, and tries to look for various problems existing in the working of alumni association of universities at present in China, combining with the experience of alumni association of foreign universities and the reality of alumni association of universities in our country, then explore as much as possible the better operational mode of alumni association in universities. To reach the purpose above, the paper consists of four parts:Part 1 of the paper focuses on the exterior motivation of universities and the current situation of alumni association of universities in China. Fist of all, this chapter analyzes the relation between Alma Mater and alumni, from two sides, which are "Alma Mater to alumni" and "alumni to Alma Mater", and points out the value each other. And then the chapter proves that alumni association is inevitable trend, which will make exchange favorable resources between Alma Mater and alumni and promote the development of two of them. Finally, according to the materials, this chapter introduces the growth course, the character and the framework of alumni association of universities in China, and summarizes the working characteristic of alumni association briefly.Part 2 focuses on the working of alumni association of universities in America. Fist, this chapter introduces the overview of alumni association of American universities, including the growth, the history of development, the type and the mission. Then it explains the structure and the running of the organization of alumni association in America, taking Bowling Green State University and Iowa State University as examples. It also introduces a series of alumni programs in this aspect, such as Awards Program, Credit Card, Legacy Program, Career Program, Travel Program, Homecoming, Alumni Clubs Program and Advancement Program. Finally, it sums up the working feature and the development trend of alumni association of universities in America.Part 3 introduces and discusses the investigation result about the real operation of
