Abstract


Since the 1990s, with regional integration and the rapid development of economic globalization, national borders become less important in the economic sphere, and the cities play a more important role, which are becoming the important carrier of social wealth and the main body of economic growth. The experience from domestic and overseas urban development show that as urbanization rate increase one percentage point, the GDP can add one to two percentage points. The level of urban development has become the concrete expression of a national or a regional economic development level and international competitiveness.Yunnan Province is located in the southwest frontier of China, due to historical and geographical reasons, the level of urbanization is low.2006 the urbanization rate is 30.5%, about 13 percentage points less than the national level, and about 5 percentage points less do the western average level. And moreover, the level of Yunnan urbanization lags behind its own economic development. This article referring to the concept of urbanization and its dynamic mechanism, points out that urbanization development is the inevitable result, because of the integration of its internal resources leading to the industrial development and the industrial upgrading. And according to the actual situation in Yunnan, analyze the constraints, so bring forward the choose of Yunnan urbanization road.Yunnan Province states that by 2020 the urban population reaches around 24 million, and the level of urbanization reaches 50%, so since the start 2006, the level of urbanization will advance about 1.4 percentage points each year in the following 14 years. Yunnan’s geographical conditions is complicated,94% of the region belongs to the mountains, including the plateau and mountain, only 6% of the region is flat, and the population is scattered, therefore, through the large-scale construction of small towns to transfer a large number of rural laborers is high costs, when not only the land but the funds have become extremely important constraints. We through referring to domestic and overseas experience in urban development, the trends and taking Yunnan’s actual situation into account point out that’the development of Yunnan urbanization should boost the urbanization, through the way of rapid urbanization of the population, which is constructing Dianzhong city group, whose center is Kunming, to absorb a large number of labor force. Under the market economy conditions, the internal resources of city group integrate to promote the development of industry and its upgrade, the development of industry especially the development of the third industry after upgrade can provide a broader space to absorb the labor employment in the city. With the development of the Dianzhong city group, we also need to celebrate the development of other cities especially the central cities to absorb the labor force near, making the middling cities big cities, the small cities middling cities, at the same time develop the characteristic town with the industrial base, and take a harmonious urban road, which contains big cities, middling cities, and small cities.
