Abstract


[Purpose] The main purpose of this study was to understand the clinical variety of binocular vision about children with intermittent exotropia before and after strabismus surgery. To determine the optimal time of surgery and the factors which can influence postoperative sensory outcome.[Method] 64 cases of children intermittent exotropia were involved in the study with best distance corrected acuity =0.8 and no obvious anisometropia. The postoperative follow-up was in 1 month and 6 months after surgery .Before and after surgery,the distance and near degrees of exotropia were measured by prism-covering approach, distance stereacuity were examined by synotophore with internal-made traditional and random dot synotophore stereogram. The patients were divided into two groups, 3-5 years of age group and 6～8 years of age group. We make a study based on the two group’s data.[Result]Before strabismus surgery(1).26 cases in the 3~5years of age group,the mean onset age was 2.1 ±1.3 years ; the mean surgery age was 4.5±1.2 years, the mean exodeviation was 32.5±7.5~△ ;38 cases in the 6～8 years of age group , the mean onset age was 2.6±1.5 years ; the mean surgery age was 7.6±1.3 years, the mean exodeviation was 48.5 ± 13.8~△.The diffierence was statistically significant in the mean surgery age and exodeviation (p<0.05),not
