Abstract


Layered double hydroxides (short for LDHs) is a large class of promising anionic clays. After calcinations, the materials have larger specific surface areas, stronger alkalescence and more surface activated points, with widespread applications in catalytical reactions, catalysis supporters and even adsorption for NOx.In this paper, Zn/Ni/Mg/Al-LDHs and Cu/Co/Mg/Al-LDHs are prepared by co-precipitation, characterized through element analysis, XRD, IR and N2 adsorption-desorption, and additionally examined for their capacities for NOx for the first time. Among the materials, Cu1.13Co1.07Mg0.94Al-LDOs and ZnNi1.02MgAl-LDOs show excellent performance in NOx deduction whose capacities for NOx are 2.8g/g and 2.3g/g, with BET areas of 150.85m2/g and 159m2/g separately. Supported by XRD, IR and SEM results, the mechanism is proposed that those adsorbed NOx is transformed into NOx by surface activated points on LDOs, then restructures the LDOs into NO3- -type LDHs in the proper
