The trend in increasing the size of the container vessel as a result of the fast development of container shipping industry has started to affect the efficiency of the conventional quay-side container crane. A conventional quay-side container crane has a typical loading and unloading speed of 30 moves per hour. And it is becoming increasingly obvious that it cannot meet the demand of the shipping company. Double trolley quay-side container crane has emerged as the high-efficient container terminals equipment under the circumstances.This article covers in details the structure, electric control system and the safety and management aspects of the double-trolley quay-side container crane and investigates the adaptability of the double-trolley quay-side container crane in a non-automatically managed container terminals. It is very useful for the research on the technical development of the double-trolley quay-side container crane as well as its automation system. It also helps to increase the efficiency of the domestically made port equipment especially the quay-side container cranes to better adapt to the fast development of the global container shipment industry.This article discuss in improve on the structure of the double-trolley quay-side container crane, its electric control system structure, automation design, safety measures and crane management system.The first chapter includes the research background of the thesis, the history of the container shipment development and the overview of the quay-side contain crane designs. It also outlines the content of the thesis and the importance of the research results. The second chapter introduces in general the conventional quay-side container crane structure and emphasize on the electric control system of the double-trolley quay-side container crane. This includes the structure of the system, container loading and unloading ship automation system, automatic landing system, chassis automatic positioning system and their applications in the double-trolley quay-side container crane.and base on these,put forward the question of the influence the efficiency of the double-trolley quay-side container crane. Chapter four introduces the methods how to improve the efficiency of the double-trolley quay-side container crane. And at last, count the efficiency.Through the discussion, the author concludes that although the double-trolley quay-side container crane has been successfully used in the automatic container terminals as the product of the container terminals all over the world accepting the fast speed loading and unloading new era in the world sea shipment industry post Panama age, it can also be successful used in a non-automatically managed container terminals if some of its key parameters are carefully dealt with. They include the structure model, automation system and its safety and crane management system. The use of double-trolley quay-side container crane in a non-automatically managed container terminals can increase the loading and unloading efficiency.
