Abstract

At present, the major methods which obtain sulfur are that roasting pyrite in our country; thousands of tons pyrite slag is discharged every year. There are abundant iron resources in the pyrite slag; so it is an important significance to research and develop the pyrite slag for reducing the cost of smelting iron, easing the shortage of iron resources, improving the comprehensive utilization of mineral resources, and protecting the environment. In recent years, due to recycling resource and sustainable development trend, some sulfur slag is also used as the materials of smelting iron, so it is currently a trend to utilize trailing of roasting pyrite comprehensively. There have been a few reports in separating iron from pyrite slag in domestic and foreign, but less reports in separating iron from sulfur slag.According to sulfur slag of pyrite at Luzhou this paper has studied technologies on separating iron from pyrite slag by referencing some experimental results in separating iron from pyrite. Major search works are shown as follow:(1) Mineralogy of raw ore are studied. A series of researches have carried out in mineralogy. Researches are shown that Fe grade is 19.69% in the ore, and Si content is 34.62%. Fe in sulfur slag of pyrite is separated, which major output form is haematite, and less one is pyrite, and other one is silicate-iron.(2) Technological conditions on separating iron from pyrite slag are studied. first of all, adopting these methods, such as regular separation, chemical separation, and combined technological process and so on. These experiments, such as magnetic character analysis of sulfur slag of pyrite, positive flotation of sulfur slag of Pyrite, gravity separation of sulfur slag of pyrite, reduction roasting-magnetic separation, chlorinated segregation-magnetic separation, throw off tailing of sulfur slag of Pyrite, have been done as above. Secondly, a series of studies, such as separation concentrate of reduction roasting-magnetic and Chlorinated segregation-magnetic separation, have been finished. At last, the process of reduction roasting magnetic separation is obtained.(3) Experiments on reduction roasting-magnetic separator of separating iron from sulfur slag of Pyrite are studied. Results have shown that time and temperature on roasting is important factor o experiments. If roasting time is very short and roasting temperature is very low, reduction reaction is not sufficiency enough; if roasting time is very long and temperature is very high, Golgi-rich of iron will be produced. Reducing agent’s type, particle size and dosage affect greatly efficiency of reduction roasting of separating concentrate. Reducing agent’s particle size and dosage affect directly Fe grade. Under best experiments conditions, such as reducing is coke whose dosage is 5% and particle size is -1mm; roasting temperature is 850℃; roasting time is 20 minutes; the product particle size is-0.045mm and magnetic field strength is 0.29T, the iron grade of 57.18% and the iron recovery of 70.08% are obtained.(4) Experiments on hlorinated segregation -magnetic separator of separating iron from Sulfur Slag of Pyrite are studied. Results have shown that:chlorinated segregation experiment need a long time and a high temperature. But when temperature get to 1000℃, the product will be sintered. The reducing agent affect experiment greatly. If dosage of reducing agent is very little, reduction reaction is not sufficiency enough; if size of reducing agent particle is very big, the reduction effects are not ideal; if dosage of chlorinated agent is very little, segregation efficiency of metal is not sufficiency enough. Under best experiments conditions, such as reducing is coke whose dosage is 12% and particle size is-1mm; roasting temperature is 1000℃; roasting time is 60 minutes; the product particle is-0.038mm and magnetic field strength is 0.25T, the iron grade of 82.91% and the iron recovery of 64.93% are obtained.
