Abstract

Escherichia coli (E.coli) is one of condition pathogenic and regular existent bacteria in pig raising, may causing the piglet’s yellow-white dysentery and piglet edema disease. Because of the multiple serotypes of E.coli and unceasing emergence of drug-resistant strains, the traditional medicine could not play a good prevention role any more, and this has brought enormous economic loss to the breeding industry. For effective control of the piglet’s yellow-white dysentery, bacteria separation was carried out in the diarrhea piglets’ feces, and seven pathogenic E.coli strains were isolated and characterized by morphological and serum type identification and bio-chemical experiments. Medicine sensibilities of these seven strains were tested with the aim of carrying out effective treatment of diarrhea and preventing abuse of antibiotics. The results showed that high resistances to ampicillin, streptomycin, gentamicin and ciprofloxacin had appeared in this pig farm, and the resistant rates were 57.14%,57.14%,42.86% and 42.86%, respectively. However, high sensitivities to compound ciprofloxacin lactate, ciprofloxacin lactate, florfenicol and kanamycin were observed, with sensitive rates of 85.71%,71.43%,57.14% and 42.86%, respectively. This indicated that the E.coli in this farm had severe drug-resistance, but well sensitivities to the preparations of traditional Chinese and western medicine:compound ciprofloxacin lactate and ciprofloxacin lactate. In order to examine the clinical effect of compound ciprofloxacin lactate in the therapy of piglet’s yellow-white dysentery,0.1 ml/kg or 0.2 ml/kg of this medicine was injected into diseased pigs, and ciprofloxacin lactate in 2.5 ml/kg dosage was used as control drug. Observation on the therapeutic efficacy of the control group and experimental groups showed that the effect of compound ciprofloxacin lactate is significantly better than ciprofloxacin lactate (P<0.05), while no obvious difference was observed between 0.1 ml/kg dosage group and 0.2 ml/kg dosage group of compound ciprofloxacin lactate.
