Abstract

Objectives. Chlamydial genital infection is one of sexually transmitted dieases, which endangers the reproductive health of men worldwide. To evaluate the relationship between Chlamydial Trachomatis (CT) infection and IgG seminal antibodies (Ab) to human 60-kDa heat shock protein (HSP-60) in the male infertility patients without symptoms of CT infection.Methods. We collected a total of 71 patients’ semen , including 42 infertility patients and 29 normal men From December 2005 to August 2006. The production of CT-DNA was detected by Fluorescence Quantitative PCR (FQ-PCR),while the seminal antibodies to HSP-60 were detected by ELISA.Results. For the male infertility patients the positive of CT infection is 12 (28.6%) and that of the control group is only 1 (3.4%,p<0.05).The positive antibodies to HSP-60 was 8(19.0%) in the infertility group, zero in the normal group, respectively. The seminal antibodies to HSP-60 were attributed to the CT infection (r=0.499, P=0.01<0.05) . The production of antibodies to HSP60-IgG Were relate to the seminal PH (p<0.05), however, there were no significant associations of sperm count, progressive motility, motility rate, and morphology with HSP60-IgG Ab (all P>0.05). Conclusion. Our research demonstrates that CT infection is one of the important factors for infertility. Furthermore, the CT infection and the seminal PH have significant relationships with the production of antibodies to HSP-60. These data may provide useful information for infertility diagnose and treatment.
