Abstract

Characteristics of test methods have a potential impact on the contents of the scoring criteria and the final score. The experiments prove that we use measuring method of measuring language ability to affect the language test the behavior of the test (Bachman Palmer, 1981, 1982; Brutsch, 1979; Clifford, 1978, 1981; Shohamy, 1983, 1984). However, not a single factor test method. Any method may contain many of the characteristics or dimensions. Each feature or level will impact scores. Bachman (1990) This is the most comprehensive discussion and discourse (Bachman Palmer, 1996). He discusses the test environment, mission requirements, scoring methods, scoring criteria and test motivation variables, these variables may affect the performance or scores of students or candidates. Typical behavior test score according to certain scoring criteria to judge the candidate's written or spoken. Written scores of candidates may be affected by the scoring criteria specific formulation process internal variables (Turner and Upshur, 2002). The scores may be affected by a number of variables affect the scoring method. In this paper, the empirical method to develop three variables were studied: Grading Grading makers and their writing samples and scoring methods used to develop the standard. These three variables may affect the scoring standard content, structure and composition of the final score. 150 essay samples used in this study is taken from a national writing competition held in Shanxi Province, China. All participants were college students. Entry essay was sent to the Institute of Foreign Languages, Shanxi University, the college rating methods and standards of these essay score. According to the Institute selected 150 samples from these participating essay sample print to the sub-divided into three groups. The composition of the two groups are formulated as empirical sample of the scoring criteria. The third group composition was prepared as a rating purposes. In this study, the standards development officers and ratings from the Shanxi University School of Foreign Languages ??eight graduate students and three teachers. All staff are non-native speakers of English learners and experienced in foreign language teaching. This study uses multiple regression investigated 1) according to the two groups of foreign language learners writing sample scores received by the development of standards and usage; 2) used in foreign language learning student writing samples to develop scoring criteria will produce different scoring rules ; 3) According to the same or different sample empirical work out the integrity of the standards and analytical standard student writing scores. The purpose of this study is to analyze the variables in the field of foreign language learning research to develop the empirical scoring criteria and scoring methods. The authors hope that this study will be developed empirical scoring criteria related aspects of further research to help and be beneficial to the research planning and decision-making processes in the field of foreign language learning.
