Abstract


In terms of subject, New Metropolitan Novels refer to the metropolis developed to have the modern scope in the transformation of market-oriented economy and life in the metropolis. They try to discover the vigorous attack to people’s old ideology by -commodity economy and the agonies and puzzles arising wherefrom.This paper tries to analyze the characteristics of Zhang Xin’s New Metropolitan Novels from the following three aspects: the crux of works, creative attitude, and aesthetic style. It aims to provide new thinking for the development of New Metropolitan Novels.1.The crux of works that is facing the reality expresses the general puzzle in the times of commodity economy.2.The creative attitude of tender feeling and comforting reconciles all kinds of conflicts during the transformation period.3.The aesthetic style of popularizing the abstruse satisfies the reading needs of different level.Every coin has two sides. Her creation also includes some weak points and need to be improved. But generally speaking, Zhang Xin’s works successfully combine the solemn literature and popular literature. Her works are serious bug not heavy, popularizing but not vulgar, and suit both refined and popular tastes. Those works comfort the metropolitan people’s spirit with special tender feeling.
