Abstract


"Silver hair tide" swept all social fields of China. At present, the function of“traditional family support”becomes more and more weakening, moreover the institution’s care for aged is facing the actuality that the endowment becomes "hard to get a bed" and the number of the aged who are disabled is increasing. Influenced by the traditional ideas, Chinese people still hold Hanyinongsun in esteem. The home care service can let the aged continue to live in their familiar communities. Therefore, the significance of researching the home care service is profound.This paper makes an investigation in two communities of Harbin with the sample survey method. Based on the theory of hierarchy needs, the theory of community care and the concept of welfare pluralism, this paper analyses the current situation of home care service with the ways combined the qualitative research and the quantitative research method. The results of this study are the elderly population in Harbin have great demand for the home care service, the supply of this service and the aged people’s high-level demand are unbalanced. The paper analyses the problems and their deep reasons in the home care service from a sociological perspective. At last, this paper provides some advice for the future construction of the home care service in Harbin.
