In this paper, dynamic sweep voltammetry , potentiostatic polarization method and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy study of pure iron in NaNO 2 NaCl system metastable pitting behavior , and comparison of carbon steel and stainless steel , the relationship between the discussed factors affect the metastable pitting formation and development , the polarization behavior of metastable pitting and sample surface conditions , and metastable hole pitting morphology current fluctuations . The main factors affecting industrial pure iron metastable pitting behavior the aggressive solution ion concentration , surface roughness , potential , and temperature ; stainless steel addition also affected by these factors , the metastable pitting behavior but also by surface inclusions is significantly affected , thereby causing these two materials pitting behavior difference . A number of industrial pure iron sample potentiodynamic polarization experiments found that the number of nucleation and the peak current of the metastable holes decreases with an increase in the number of polarization , E m and E b value increased ; polarization process every hole nucleation number increased with the rise of the potential ; influenced by multiple polarization more stainless steel than industrial pure iron and carbon steel large. Industrial pure iron , A3 steel and stainless steel fluctuations peak shape quite different reasons for this difference in solution passivation ability with the material itself . Industrial pure iron formation in the NaNO 2 the NaCl system early in the pits by a continuous shallow open holes , holes preferentially along the ground to form the trench direction . The formation and development of pitting by the surface roughness of the two stone page d two degree Shilun text impact , easier to form a rough surface active sites , trench width depth ratio w / d and the potential impact of pitting nucleation and development. Early pitting major impact by the former , while the latter is mainly controlled by potentiometer . Good corresponding relationship , indicating that the current fluctuations in the current time curve peaks and pits on the surface morphology is possible according to the number and amplitude of current fluctuation prediction material surface corrosion damage extent .
