Abstract


In this paper, the progress of three dimensional wind field retrieval techniquefrom Doppler radar data and the advantage or disadvantage of other retrievaltechnique, and the research about the reliability of data gathering in public probearea of dual- Doppler radar retrieval systems in Fujian Province are discussed,the results shows that the four unit Doppler radar built in Fujian Province arenot suitable for wind field retrieval experiment.Three dimensional wind field retrieval software code by IAP, which includethe pre-treatment original data convert program, the Cressman iterative methodof iterative program, the program using simple adjoint method to retrieve griddedwind and the grads display program. simple adjoint method is used to research the3-dememsion dynamic structure of four type rain systems, which are retrieval thethunder and heavy storm, the one point storm, the local big storm and the suddenlyrainy progress. The analysis about the reliability of wind retrieval using thismethod, it is showed that the character of retrieved stream field is similar withradar echo evolvement, the product of radar radial velocity reveal that circulationcharacter gets better results in stream field retrieve. In a word, the retrievedresults can basically reflect the real condition of 3-demension wind field.The 3-d structure character of squall line and rainy systems, taken place inMay, 16,2003, is that the disturbance of low level shear line and meso-scaleconvergence line, strong convergence center coincident with strong gradient echoarea, which have very important effect on heavy rain in a short time. The verticalupward movement result in the persist of thunder storm. The existence of shortscale vortex and strong upward velocity are the reason of one station storm inSep, 20, 2003. The duration of local area heavy storm, inJun, 12, 2005, the strongconvergence always move into this area, and also the vertical movement exist. Windconvergence exist in the upper of sudden storm rain area, by influence of the shearresulted from westerly and southwesterly airflow moving easterly and windconvergence continuously move from south to north, the convergent area associatedstrong vertical movement, all of above three is the important dynamic characterof the progress in Jul, 18,2006
