With the development of optical communication technology, weak signal transmission and all-optical waveguide structure more easily achieved. Nonlocal nonlinear media support a weak signal soliton transmission waveguide transmission, is conducive to the realization of all-optical structures. Transmission of light in nonlinear media, when the media and non-linear effects of light diffraction effects balance each other, the beam can form spatial optical soliton transmission. Therefore, in the field of the optical transmission medium of nonlocal nonlinear characteristics has been a very important issue. Based on the theoretical study of nonlocal nonlinear media nonlocal nonlinear index coefficient and the determination of the degree of the problem, and gives the numerical simulation results. This paper is divided into five chapters: the first chapter is the introduction; second, third and fourth chapter describes the authors graduate part of the work done during; fifth chapter is closing. Details are as follows: Chapter One: a brief review of the nonlinear medium theoretical and experimental measurement of progress. Chapter II: derivation and numerical simulation using the analytic method, detailed derivation of the Gaussian response nonlocal nonlinear medium Z-scan theory. Discussed nonlocal nonlinear media nonlocality on transmittance curve. Found a calculation nonlocal nonlinear medium nonlinear index coefficient and the degree of non-local approach, noting that as a result of non-locality caused by some of the experimental parameters, and describes the experimental approach to achieve measurement on precautions. Chapter III: The nematic liquid crystal, for example, derived in detail in nematic liquid crystals nonlocal nonlinear response function, found a nematic liquid crystal in the specific form of the nonlinear index coefficient, and focuses on the nematic liquid crystal sample Z-scan theory, the nematic liquid crystal was measured nonlinear refractive index coefficients. Chapter 4: Design of experiments to measure the nematic liquid crystal nonlinear refractive index coefficient of the experimental setup, given the specific experimental procedures, and lists some points to note. Chapter Five: Conclusion. The main contribution of this paper is: In theory introduced in nonlocal nonlinear medium nonlinear index coefficient Z-scan technique and found a nonlocal nonlinear medium nonlocality on the Z curve effect, given a nematic liquid crystal in the nonlinear response function and find the nonlinear index coefficient measurement method.
