Abstract


Examination as a way of talents selection is an important part of education. The traditional test organization consists of four parts:manual paper making, the examination, manual paper marking and result statistics. With the increasing of exam types and examinee quantity, the working load of organization is getting much heavier and the efficiency is getting lower and lower. With the rapid development of the internet and information system, the computer network technology becomes more and more extensive. The web-based testing system comes into being in this situation. The Online Testing System (OTS), as a result of the combination of computer network technology and database technology, is an expansion of conventional exam room. It can realize automation examination on many courses, using the resources of campus network.In the paper, first of all, the author analyzes the development background of this system and the development circumstance of the system inside and outside the country; summarizes the main problems needed to be resolved; briefly introduces main technique and main contribution adopted by system. On the design of system, author proceeds strictly according to unified modeling language UML. According to practical situation of Nan Shan University, the author analyzes the need of function and performance of this system, and uses user case diagrams to show the relationship of each user. The system is divided into four sub-systems:system management, exam database management, online exam, score management. The system uses a randomly paper making method, which decreases the complexity and shorten the time of making paper. In realization part, system adopts.NET development environment combining with ASP technology and database technology to carry on. It has the function of registers recognition, pulling out test questions stochastically according to requests, timing grading, and many kinds of inquiry statistics way and so on. Finally, this paper also introduced the safety control method of the online test system, which includes two aspects:the server security and the test security. The server security settings can guarantee the normal operation and prevent the damage by illegal visitors. The test security settings ensure the security of data and confidentiality of fairness and justice exam. The web-based online test system realizes the network, non-paper and automation. It increases the efficiency and decrease the cost of the test. Meanwhile it supports a real-time and feasible environment, and makes the exam more objective and impartial.
