Abstract


As a new business, railway schools was founded by a variety of factors in late Qing dynasty, among them, an objective motive is what the people needed for railway construction. From the earliest attached to the Northern Military Academy in Tianjin railway classes to the first rail way school named Shan hail Guan Railway School built after Sino-Japanese;Only from the engineering and technical personnel training to attention to railway management personnel;from the beginning of railway schools by the government to schools held in the provinces one after another;These changes reflect the development of the railway schools have gone through a tortuous process. Although schools encounter from a wide range of challenges and obstructions during the founding and development,for example,political unrest led to the schools were destroyed,school funding was exhausted and so on. But by these limitations, we can know the running hard in the past and the rare school’s insistence. It should be said,whether in the personnel training needs of the railway construction or in promoting the development of modern education in modern time, railway schools have played a great role.The starting point of this article is the analysis of railway schools during Late Qing dynasty .Then it explores the evolution, management, teaching and reveal the characteristics, the role and limitations of railway schools.
