This dissertation is to introduce the aesthetic theory of Zong Baihua, a famous philosopher, aesthetician and poet in China. His aesthetic thinking has played an important role in the development of modern aesthetics of China. Yet few people have studied his thinking of the Aesthetic Education intensively. It is out of this reason that the author writes this dissertation.The first part of this dissertation focuses on Zong Baihua’s idea of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy and music, that is, art in China has the essence of music, which shares rhythm with the universe. Therefore this music conception becomes the ultimate pursuit of Chinese artists. At the same time, music can temper one’s character; hence all the art has this function. The second part introduces Zong Baihua’s life philosophy, which he passionately called it the artistic life. In his opinion, people have to observe the world with sympathy, and to live a life with enthusiasm. Only in this way can life be as perfect as a work of art. Perfect personality demonstrates perfect life. The third part presents two kind of perfect personality that Zong Baihua loves so much. One is loving freedom, cherishing friendship, and always seeking and sticking to truth. The other is full of wisdom, persistent and confident.Nowadays, with the transformation of society, scientific development and economic prosperity, perfect personality has become the prerequisite of social harmony. Zong Baihua’s opinion about Aesthetic Education still makes significance and sets good reference today.
