Abstract

In this thesis the incremental launching method construction process of the first steel truss span of the combined highway and railway bridge crossing Huanghe river in Zhengzhou province is simulated and studied. The finite element software MIDAS/Civil is applied to compute the stress and deformation of the steel truss during the whole incremental launching process. The variation of internal forces, stress and displacement of the main truss in the construction process is analyzed which provides experience for further constructions using the same method. Incremental launching method differs from cantilever construction method in that the coordinates, boundary support conditions, internal forces and deformation of the structure vary all through the process. In the state of the completed bridge, The analysis shows that the internal forces and displacement results of the main truss, bridge tower and stay cable. To make sure that whether the bridge is safe and reliable under operation. The ultimate bearing capacity of the bridge is analyzed to support the limit-state design and the destruction pattern of the bridge is obtained. For given load condition, the strength storage and overloading capacity of the structure are exactly identified which enhances the safety and management of the construction. Finite element software ANSYS is applied to build the spatial model of the bridge and its ultimate bearing force is computed under three assumptions of linear elasticity, geometric nonlinearity, geometric and material nonlinearity. The local solid model of orthotropic deck is established in ANSYS. The development path of plasticity in the orthotropic deck under limit load is analyzed.
