The project "Research and application of radon gas geochemical exploration technology" as a doctor degree research subject has been chosen on the requirement of oil and gas exploration based on the carrying out of the national key scientific and technological and commonweal fund project "New technique research on concealed ore deposits’ quick localization by combined gas methods" assigned by China Science and Technology Department. With the fast development of socialist and economic construction, demand for mineral resources is growing day by day in China. The guarantee extend for many major natural resources is relatively low, especially for oil and gas resources which are badly needed. According to the statistics, the imported crude oil every year takes 40% in total amount. Particularly in this decade, oil and gas exploration is becoming more and more difficult with a dramatic cost increase while the oil exploration results are not satisfied with some routine non seismic detecting methods, due to the complicated geochemical landscape conditions. The oil geology industry is eager to introduce new technologies and methods of high efficiency, speedy and low cost in oil and gas exploration. In order to change the passive situation, more economic and efficient oil and gas exploration methods and evaluation-forecasting system should be set up by science and technology progress, active research on more efficient oil and gas exploration technologies and increasing investment of relevant advanced devices and instruments combined with modern theory of oil and gas pool formation regularities, so as to upgrade the overall capability of oil and gas exploration-evaluation level and scientific forecasting, guaranteeing the sustainable development of national economy with efficiently increased domestic oil and natural gas resources reserves.According to the researching status of oil and gas geochemical exploration and comprehensive analysis of the efficiency of some oil and gas exploration methods that are being used at present and have been reported, the doctor degree article has chosen radon gas measurement technology as research orientation to further testify the efficiency of oil and gas pool searching, focusing on the research of the special relation between radon gas anomaly and the boundary of oil-water or gas-water, based on the radon gas geochemical behavior, to set up the geochemical discrimination criteria for efficient division and oil-water or gas-water boundary forecasting by radon gas anomaly characteristics. In recent years, with continuous introduction of advanced radioactive detecting instruments, the use of radon gas measurement technology equipped with modern radon gas measurement device has inevitably been given first priority while researching new oil and gas exploration methods. For instance, Ge Liangli, Song Lizhong and Liu Hongfu et al carried through experimental researches in several oil and gas producing areas and reached some new achievements. The project has reached the expected result through numerous data searching, field sampling and comprehensive analysis and research including indoor experiments, data processing etc,. The major understandings are as followings:(1) According to the research of radon geochemical behavior and properties and the mastering of the emanation of radon in various mediums, its occurrence, absorption-transformation and forming mechanism, it is fully confirmed that there is a close inner association between radon gas and oil or natural gas. Further more, the testing results on the numerous known oil and gas fields (reservoirs) also fully proved that radon gas indeed possesses a particular indication function and effect on reflecting the environment conditions and distribution areas of oil and gas movement.(2) According to the characteristics of distribution regularities, patterns, strength and scale etc. a series of anomaly models of researching and outlining the oil and gas accumulation districts with radon gas has been further improved. They are important geochemical models of evaluating and outlining favourable oil and gas accumulation target areas with radon gas anomalies and guiding significance to the production in future.(3) The evaluation method and principle of field survey method and indoor anomaly explanation of radon gas measurement technology has been completed.(4) The project has not only powerfully testified the indicative effect of radon anomaly in oil and gas field searching, but also found by the research that there were discrimination indicators showing the exact location of oil-water or gas-water boundary while confirming and dividing the boundaries with radon anomalies. It is great economic significance to reduce the high cost of confirming the oil-water or gas-water boundary with drilling test.(5) Radon gas anomaly can not only be used for dividing single layer oil or gas field (pool) boundary, but also forecast multiple layer oil or gas field (pool) boundary and make a qualitative judgment to the underground water activity and its flowing areas. It will facilitate the technological progress of applied exploration geochemical technology and be used for reference in underground water searching in the aridity area of China with radon gas measurement technology.(6) Any new technique methods have to face some interference factors in some extent. The project carried out extensive researches on the possible interference factors and confirmed the methods of eliminating different interference factors. It is great significance to improve the application result and creditability of data for oil and gas exploration with radon gas measurement technology.
