Abstract


According to the city's natural environment , urban design is its unique approach and uses the traditional landscape design . However , many urban designers directly to the design process and the location of its urban design project analysis method is applied to them. In addition, analysis of the use of traditional landscape architect in urban design theory can not fully embody the traditional methods can not be fully integrated analysis of urban designers in all the urban design process must consider the multiple and complex information . Geographic Information Systems -GIS, a few years ago as a powerful tool to be used in the process of urban design . Recently , GIS has become the data management , decision-making , visualization and spatial analysis of the most effective tools for urban designers , urban space designed to provide a new method . This paper is the application of GIS technology in cities and historical sites in the area protected . Through the integration of GIS technology with a special database design and research methods , and has a history rich resources typical Arab Old City city launched a study with the protection of the architectural heritage . For a long time , due to the continuous spread of the Metro and the neglect of the old city , the Arab Old City heritage protection in danger . Although in the past the old city to carry out a lot of protection and restoration projects , but due to lack of understanding of urban culture , many of these work caused by a unique architectural style of the old city break to change . Therefore , this innovation to build a comprehensive approach for the protection of this old town was inscribed on the World Heritage List . This paper will also build a city based on GIS technology protection method . The system can be used to help the work of the planning architects in the establishment of the city protected areas , urban reconfiguration strategies . The system will also record the city 's current structure and the existing conditions , so that the city protection , restoration and reuse of the decision-making process . The system will also help the government of the autonomous region on a regular basis the implementation of the heritage protection and management . Finally, based on the different aspects of population , housing , environment , transportation , urban and architectural status quo , a strong correlation between the current and future development of the direct influence of the old city , the paper argues that any old city protection process should be comprehensive whole.
