Objective : Because of the temporomandibular joint articular disc morphology change with temporomandibular joint disorders are closely related , and the signal characteristics of the articular disc of the temporomandibular joint in each sequence of the magnetic resonance imaging is not typical , so the study of temporomandibular joint morphology , location and the surrounding tissue the relationship has played a very important role in the clinical diagnosis . In this paper, the characteristics of the summary of the magnetic resonance imaging of the temporomandibular joint , etiology , classification and common imaging examination methods , explore their pain symptoms with MRI method articular disc morphology , location , condylar movement 's relationship . Methods : temporomandibular joint line of 23 cases of patients with clinical symptoms of pain and 23 patients with asymptomatic MRI 1.5T dual gradient magnetic resonance scanner . Results: change of the articular disc morphogenesis , the most common disk stretch of variable length to uniform thickening as well as after-hours with obvious swelling ; disc displacement observed mainly for Irreducible forward to bit, and significant changes associated with articular disc morphology . After statistical analysis , it is confirmed that the joint pain and joint disc deformation shift condylar movement correlation signal and wing muscle morphology , joint effusion , there is no correlation . The deformation of the articular disc in asymptomatic population shift there may be potential risk factors for temporomandibular joint disease . Disc displacement and deformation of the temporomandibular joint disease pathological changes . Conclusion: the articular disc of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) has an important role in the function of the temporomandibular joint activities . Temporomandibular joint disorders articular disc morphological characteristics and its relationship with the surrounding tissue , and is one of the main contents of the imaging diagnosis . MRI is the gold standard to observe the articular disc morphology , clear display the temporomandibular joint organization of the system and its surrounding structure , especially to be able to clearly show the shape and position of the articular disc , clinical diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular joint disease process has very important clinical value .
