Abstract

In the 16th Men’s Basketball Championship held in Turkey, Chinese Men’s Basketball team didn’t become Top 16 due to a bad result of one score five losses. However, under the lead of Deng Huade, the performance of Chinese Men’s Basketball team still exhibited a completely new impression with highly-united teamwork and wonderful cooperation. After reflecting on the competition, some problems, such as the inability of defense members at the very moment, emerged and needed attention. According to the performances of the defense members in the 16th Men’s Basketball Championship and the established norms, the author conducted a comparative study on offensive ability to achieve both qualitative and quantitative data, which will be good references in the afterward training and competition. Multiple research methods were applied in this thesis, such as literature review, expert interview, video observation, statistic analysis and so on. Through comparative analysis, the findings are as followed:Firstly, a“vacuum" phenomenon happened to the defense members of Chinese Men’s Basketball Players. The main point guard Liu Ye was preparing to leave the national team because of old age while his substitutes were still young and lack of both experiences in events and offensive power. Second is about scoring ability. The Chinese Men’s Shooting Guard was not as good as rivals due to the inability of scoring in perimeter area, poor shooting stability and undulating state of motion. These factors all resulted in the collective misfiring especially in the key phase of the final game. Third is the passing ability. In this aspect, the defense members of Chinese Men’s Basketball owned poor organizational skills, poor vision, poor offensive ability, single way and poor timing, which formed a main gap compared with the rivals. Fourth is about breakthrough capacity. Though the Chinese Men’s Basketball Guards made breakthroughs, the choice after the break was not rational enough. Also, there were fewer passes and relatively simple attaching approach. The fifth is in grabbing rebounds in the front side. Chinese Men’s Basketball Guards had rather poor awareness in grabbing rebounds before the field and small second-chance points. All these make significant gap compared with rivals. Sixthly, the attacking errors should be decreased to the minimum. Though in this competition the number of the attacking errors decreased compared to before. But some errors still happened in the essential phase of competition. Seventh is about basic cooperation in competition. The number of“break and pass”was obviously less than opponents. The Chinese guard only“break”without“pass”. The awareness of passing was not high after“break”. Many personal attacks showed the lack of rationality and continuity in attacking. The last is about tactical coordination in the fast break. Although the number of tactical coordination in the fast break was more than opponents, the cooperation efficiency was still low, which resulted in low scoring in the final phase of competition.
