The Effect of Oral and Washing with Traditional Chinese Medicine on Functional Recovery after Total Knee Replacement

Abstract


Objective : To observe the total knee replacement surgery , wash the outside of the the application Shujinhuoxue soup of Oral and Shujinhuoxue lotion , rehabilitation of knee function and explore Recipe mechanism provide a theoretical basis for clinical application . Method : Select orthopedic severe osteoarthritis patients underwent unilateral total knee arthroplasty in my hospital from July 2009 to November 2010 , in accordance with the cases of inclusion and exclusion criteria, 50 cases average admission time the order is divided into traditional Chinese medicine Oral and Washing (experimental group ) and conventional rehabilitation group ( control group ) , 25 cases in each group . The two groups of patients were not statistically different in age, sex , body weight , and duration of disease section . Patients in both groups underwent the routine rehabilitation CPM training . Experimental group after the second day of taking Shujinhuoxue soup , a total of seven days , the control group not taking medicine . 14 days after patients sutures , the experimental group Shujinhuoxue wash square Fumigation knee . The control group was not herbal fumigation . - Seven observation the indicators recorded two groups of patients at the time of admission , after two weeks , three weeks after the operation , four weeks after surgery and postoperative score of 3 months , the table at the New York Hospital for Special Surgery knee score (HSS) SPSS13.0 statistical software for statistical analysis of data . Results: ( 1) the experimental group preoperative HSS score compared with the control group , after the test showed no significant difference ( P gt; 0.5 ) ; ( 2 ) the experimental group after three weeks , four weeks HSS total score of the control group comparison, the test differences were statistically significant (P lt; 0.05); (3) the experimental group after three weeks , four weeks of knee pain , walking function and range of motion and control group comparison , the differences were statistically significant (P lt; 0.05): (4) 3 months after the experimental group and the control group indicators , the difference was not statistically significant after inspection : ( 5 ) the experimental group was not found to cause significant adverse reactions due to Chinese medicine . Conclusion: ( 1) taking Shujinhuoxue soup can relieve total knee arthroplasty local swelling and pain , improve knee function ; ( 2) Shujinhuoxue the wash before being significantly alleviate the local swelling and pain after total knee arthroplasty can improve knee function ; ( 3 ) traditional Chinese medicine combined with conventional rehabilitation training can shorten the recovery time after surgery ; (4) the medicinal properties soup with Shujinhuoxue the washing economical and practical , side effects , safe and reliable .
