Cotton“three wire”is the short title of cotton mixed with some of the foreign fibers. The“three wire”problem in the cotton has been a major problem which plagued China’s textile industry. China is a large country of cotton textile enterprises. So the problem of cotton“three wire”indirectly causes our country’s economic loss. If we use manual packing, we will input more cost. In this case, based on CCD detection technology of cotton "three wire" automatic removing system comes into being. However, the foreign production of some cotton "three wire" automatic removing system’s prices are more expensive. So many domestic cotton textile enterprises don’t want to spend so much money to buy this machine. Therefore, it is necessary at this stage to research and development cost-effective "three-wire" automatic removing system independently.Cotton "three wire" automatic removing system is designed to achieve separating cotton and the "three wire", to reduce falling cotton rates as much as possible, to improve the amount of removing of cotton "three wire" in a minute. In order to achieve this objective, this article mainly researched the cotton "three wire" image segmentation, for obtaining the ideal segmentation, we improved the Image preprocessing of cotton before the segmentation, carefully observed and analyzed the cotton the image histogram information, improved the image segmentation, saved computing time, and improved the recognition rate.This article includes the following five areas:(1) Describe the purpose and significance of cotton "three wire" automatic removing system and summarize the Research status.(2) Design the overall structure of the cotton "three wire" automatic removing system, narrate the workflow of the system, and explain the structure of the main components.(3) Discuss the primary techniques used in image processing, these techniques include the image acquisition system, the principle of CCD, the image preprocessing, and comparing the improved algorithm to the original algorithm.(4) Design the hardware of this system, It includes designing the cotton channel, Pre-judgment of“three wire”and the correspondence between Jet magnetic valve and cotton image pixels.(5) Test the image processing of cotton“three wire”, and identify the main factors affected the segmentation, find out the solution to improve the system removing rate.At last summarize this article and look into the future of the next step in the research.
