A randomized single-blind method was made to verify the efficacy of acupuncturing K6 and SJ18 for Sleep Apnea/Hyperpnoea Syndrome (SAHS).All 92 patients were divided into treatment group and control group randomly, 85 cases were under study, out of which 7 cases were discontinued due to their abnormalities during the whole study, .treatment group took 2o times acupuncture in K6 and SJ18 while control group were given Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure for 5 times a week, these had lasted 7 months at 5 times per week with the follow-up visiting for the third and sixth months after treatments. Symptom-and-sign scale and experiment index, together with the related PSG were used for the evaluations for the clinical efficacy. The level from baseline of the treatment group was similar to that of thecontrol (P>0.05) . The effectiveness of the study of acupuncture applied on OSAHS cases was 75.6% and the control group took the efficacy of 95.5%. Comparing with the pre-therapy, the total symptom-and-sign scores of every group had decreased, and from the statistical t-distribution evaluation showed that the patients had improved in their health conditions after acupuncture. Symptom-and-sign scores of treatment group were good in the first 3 months and on the whole they were well maintained in the 6 months follow-ups,. Acupuncture could improve OSAHS patients in their respiratory functions and could decrease the RDI in improving the HI. The entire exercise also showed that it had attained the correct sampling size for the study of the degree of the improvement in maintaining a high SaO2 level. Acupuncture therapy were able shortened the time duration percentile when SaO2 contents was lower than 90% in whole sleep, it was significant Acupuncturing k6 had significantly improved their sleeps, by decreasing the patients’ rapid eye movement cat-sleep durations, but it did not change their sleeping bad habits.According to above clinical experimental results, in conclusion, acupuncturing the YinQiao meridian for adult Sleep Apnea/Hyperpnoea Syndrome is effective with good results.
