? Chinese architecture culture has a long history. With thousand year’s changes, accumulation and sedimentation, it presents rich, splendid, magnificent and complete characteristics. The type of window grilles of Ming and Qing Dynasty is complex and diverse. The location and scale of the window grilles also are different and similar. All these have become the scholars’research object and it is also very popular modern interior design. In this thesis, the application of window grilles of Ming and Qing dynasty in modern design will be discussed, and it will develop the old tradition and culture.In this paper, cultural anthropology, reference comparison, individual cases and so on have been adopted. First, it summarizes the window grilles of Ming and Qing Dynasty to introduce the types, artificial characteristics, pattern and developing sense. Then the application of window grilles of Ming and Qing Dynasty in modern interior design combined with furniture and display are analyzed from the perspective of space, design, pattern, color, material, background, repetition, amalgamation etc.. At last, it explains the cultural characteristics of windows grilles in interior design and emphasizes the matters that we need to pay attention to during design and explores the foreground of the window grilles. All these are the instruction of the creation of the modern interior design. The paper has made a concrete research based on the practical situation through collecting relative reference material and adopting pictures and combing theory and practice.
