Abstract

In petroleum exploration, seismic data contain many kinds of information on subsurface strata. One of primary goals of seismic exploration is to extract more useful information on structures and reservoirs from these data, and make interpretations of subsurface structures, strata, lithology, and hydrocarbon-bearing characters. To achieve this goal, one important approach is to extract and analyze seismic attributes from data. These attributes are associated with features of geometry, kinematics, dynamics, and statistics of seismic wave propagation. Such work includes calculation of the single-track instantaneous cophase axis attribute, obtaining the cophase axial attribute of complicated multi-trace windows, as well as research of seismic attribute generation. The results can be applied to detection of simple anomalies of amplitude, and monitoring time-dependent liquid fronts of reservoirs. For a given reservoir setting, some attributes are more sensitive than other parameters. Some are favorable to reveal subsurface anomalies which are difficult to be found by other methods. And some attributes have been used as direct indexes of hydrocarbon. In a word, the seismic attribute technology can extract useful information hidden in seismic data and enhance applied values and effects of geophysics in petroleum exploration. Therefore, since a long time the technology of attribute extraction and analysis has been one of primary studies in special processing and interpretation of seismic data. This thesis is focused on the study of responses of structures and reservoirs to multi-attribute seismic information and its application in exploration of oilfields. It attempts to use theories to direct applications and to promote theoretical research by
