Abstract

Rare earth complexes may show good optical, magnetic and catalytic because oftheir special structure.Certain lanthanide ions possess high fluorescence quantumefficiency, sharp emission lines in the visible and infrared region and emission noteffected by the ligands. All these made them have wide applicatiom. Moreover, theincorporation of rare earth complex into the polymer can lead to a great variety ofcomposites and these composites combined good optical, electric and magneticproperties of lanthanide ions and easy synthesis.Excellent mechanical properties, proccss ability and low cost of polymers.and a kind of promissing functionalmaterial.Graphite oxide (GO) is an oxygen-rich derivative of graphite, where the carbonlayers lose their planarity to become corrugated due to the conversion of many of thesp2carbon atoms into sp3ones. The most accepted structure of GO is that epoxy andhydroxyl groups decorate the surface of carbon sheets and the carboxyl groups arelocalized at the edges. GO can be weakly fluorescent because of a defect-relatedoptical gap, which may expand their applications in the display and lighting fields, such as biological labeling and anti-counterfeiting. the luminescent of lanthanidecomplexes could be quenched by graphite oxide sheets, which was due to an electrontransfer process. Furthermore, it is a justified assumption that GO can substantiallycontribute to the thermal and photochemical stability of rare earth complexes ofinterest in numerous photophysical applications and devices. This test has divided into three parts:Firstly, as Acetylacetone is the first ligand and PAMAM is the second ligand,PAMAM/terbium acetylacetonate complexes was prepared by in situ grinding. Andthis complex was characterized by IR, UV, fluorescence, TG and elemental analysis.Fluorescence shows that the acetylacetone and PAMAM both can enhance thefluorescence of rare earths; Meanwhile, TG shows that after PAMAM reacting withacetylacetone, the thermal stability of the original complex reduces.Secondly, when GO is as the ligant, GO-Tb(acac)3composite was prepared by a noncovalent approach and characterized by FT-IR, SEM, XRD, PL, UV and TG. SEMand XRD confirmed Tb(acac)3particles distributed on GO sheets densely, and its sizeis between30nm and60nm. In addition, TG showed GO played a crucial role inenhancing the thermal properties of Tb(acac)3. The composites have better thermalproperties. However, fluorescence Analysis and UV Analysis comfirm that thefluorescence of GO-Tb(acac)3composites has the reduced owing to the fluorescencequenching of GO.Thirdly, GO/3.0G PAMAM-Tb(acac)3composite was prepared by a noncovalentapproach and characterized by FT-IR, SEM, XRD, PL, UV and TG, when GO and3.0G PAMAM were the ligands. TG showed the thermal properties of3.0GPAMAM-Tb(acac)3had been enhanced when GO was introduced. Meanwhile, fluorescence Analysis and UV Analysis comfirm that the fluorescence of3.0GPAMAM-Tb(acac)3had reduced.
