Abstract

Because of their good mechanical properties, particle reinforced composite materials, as a new type of composite material, have been widely used in aerospace, mechanical, biological, nuclear, military, civil and other important industrial areas. In particle reinforced composites, the reinforcements have been introduced into the matrix, and the reinforcements and matrix can work together perfectly. So the overall mechanical properties have been improved. However, the macro mechanical properties of the particle reinforced composites were seriously affected by the micro mechanical properties, such as the particle size, shape, spatial distribution, interfacial bonding strength. How to descript the relationships of the macroscopic properties of particle reinforced composite material and microscopic mechanical properties correctly has been one of the main topics of computational mechanics. The works of this paper includes:1. Based on the method of inserting point by point, put forward a new method which can generate massive inclusions, be suitable for arbitrary geometry, consider the arbitrarity in generating inclusions, volume ratio, angle, high aspect ratio, and program the relevant grid generation code. The voronoi mesh generation can be used as a pre processing program of VCFEM finite element method.2. Improve the original procedures; the original procedures can only calculate a small amount of particles, now it can carry out large-scale particle simulation. Analyze of the focus of the original program, and puts forward the improvement scheme, improve the execution efficiency of the program significantly, do some simple optimizations for the original code, take the corresponding program for parallel processing, which is suitable for large-scale numerical simulation.3. Establish the calculation model. Simulate the mechanical propert-s of the particle reinforced composites based on the micromechanics analysis, and compare the results with FEM’s. Analysis of the impact of the macro meso scale factor. Analysis the micro mechanical factors which influence the macroscopic mechanical properties.4. Evaluate the influence of the microscopic morphology, particle distribution, interfacial bond strength and other factors on the overall performance of the particle reinforced composite material.
