Abstract


The traditional way to process the copper bus bar is “Rolling-Drawing-Annealing”. Itbrings difficulties to varieties and small batch production as its more processes, long cycle,high costs and the size of billet need to be selected as the product specifications. The standardcopper bus bar can be made by continuous extrusion technology using only one process withunified specifications of billet. The advantages compared with traditional technology are thehigh production efficiency, significant saving energy, unlimited product length and wellproduct quality.The different section size and shape of products can be product with the unchangedexpanding cavity. It only need to change the size of mold. So it improves the productioncapacity of the equipment and realizes the variety of the product. Because of the limit for thechamber material, the large extrusion force and high temperature aroused by complex shapeproduct may destroy the extrusion chamber. So the study on the extrusion force andtemperature for different section size and shape of products is extremely important tocontinuous extrusion extending deformation.In order to study the effect of the product size on continuous extrusion extendingforming for copper, the upper bound method is used to made several equations of extrusionforce and product profile. And then the regularity of extrusion force and product profile,extend ratio and complex shape coefficient could be drawn. Then the FEM analysis is madefor comparing with the analytical calculations. The result shows the product width andextrusion force of extending cavity entrance made linear relation when the product thicknessis at constant. When the width is unchanged, the extrusion force is increasing with thethickness decreasing. In addition, the extend force is increased by the increasing of extendratio. The complex shape coefficient has the same law.
