Abstract


Urbanization is not only a symbol of human civilization and progress, but also the product of social economic development to a certain stage, which has become an inner impetus to promote the regional economic development. Rapid urbanization requires a lot of money, resources and population transfer for support, but the ecological environment pressure is enormous, especially the water shortage problem. To prevent the new problem of water resources in the urbanization process, reduce the constraints produced by water resources to the development of coastal cities, protect and improve the water environment of coastal city, discuss the coupling relationship between urbanization and water resources, so as to realize the coordinated development has become the sensibilities study for today’s scholars.According to statistics, the urbanization level of Dalian, Dandong, Jinzhou, Yingkou, Panjin and Huludao was 59.6%, 41.9%, 39.8%, 46.3%, 62.8% and 30.9% in 2008, respectively, suggesting that Liaoning coastal economic zone is entering the acceleration of urbanization development period. Water shortage has been an important constraining factor for the urbanization process in Liaoning Coastal economic zone. A coupling coordination model was constructed based on the evaluation indictor system of urbanization and water resources which were chosen scientifically, and the coupling coordination degrees were calculated and analyzed from the spatial-temporal view, leading very important practical significance for the development strategy of Liaoning coastal economic zone.The main research results and conclusions are as follows:(1) In time sequence, the overall coupled coordination degree has a increasing trend, which means that the constraints of water resources to urbanization decreased, and are in the transition to a high level of coupling phase;(2) In space sequence, the six cities of Liaoning coastal economic zone can be divided into three types of coupling-coordination, one is high level and high degree, the second is high level and moderate degree, the third is moderate degree. Furthermore, there is an obvious corresponding relation between the coupling- coordination degree and regional economic development in the region, which is important for correctly understanding the interactive coupling relation between urbanization and water resources.(3) Liaoning coastal economic zone, with the construction of water regulation projects, should optimize the water utilization and industrial structure, increase the quantity of sea water utilization and water quality protection, which are important to harmony the relation of water resources utilization and the rapid development of society and economy.
